The Saxon city of Leipzig has an extensive history to look back on. Musical geniuses such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Richard Wagner or Clara Schumann were inspired by this city. The citizens of Leipzig and their visitors were spoiled by fascinating buildings from the renaissance and the baroque period. The Radisson SAS is located in the heart of the city. After six months of complete renovation, the hotel reopened its doors in April 2007. Its 200 guestrooms meet all expectations of a first-class hotel with an attractive design.
The architects of the building renovation project showed their skill both in the interior and the exterior of the hotel.
The concept of the interior design office of Tassilo Bost in Berlin envisaged “plenty of fabrics, colour and light” for the hotel’s interior. The atmosphere is in keeping with the level of a luxury hotel, combining and creating functionality and design.
The hotel’s Spago Lounge invites you to linger there a while. Fine Makassar ebony wood creates an impression of restrained elegance. In keeping with the red leather armchairs by Walter Knoll and the red carpet, scatter cushions and curtains by drapilux introduce coloured notes. The red and mauve drapilux-776 fabric that was used is a gently flowing dobby weave fabric that is both modern and stylish in feel. Worked into gently falling curtains and Roman blinds, it is used to set off the 4-metre high panoramic window. The aesthetic quality of the textiles is also brought out by spotlights.
In the guestrooms, smooth surfaces and clear lines dominate. Walls, seating, ceiling coverings and furniture are predominantly in white and warm Makassar ebony wood was also employed here. In combination with cool chrome features on the furniture, the space has a pleasant, cheerful feel. The light decorative fabric drapilux-121, in red and mauve, is also used to add notes of colour, thereby rounding off the stylish atmosphere. Mr Goetsmann, the hotel’s manager, has a fitting comparison to make when he thinks of the textiles in his hotel: “In terms of a car brand, these fabrics would be an Alfa Romeo”.
The Radisson SAS in Leipzig meets all the expectations of a first-class hotel. The details of the interior fittings create a modern, luxurious tone.
drapilux 776 can be obtained in 28 colours, and the colour range on offer for drapilux 121 includes as many as 37 shades. Both these textiles are produced to the tried-and-tested Trevira CS standard.
