The town of Herzogenaurach in Bavaria was a “sporting” town long before the Argentinean football team stayed there during the World Cup in the summer of 2006. It is home to the former top footballer Lothar Matthäus, and the two big companies adidas and Puma are located there. The 4-star Ramada Hotel opened right on time for the commencement of the World Cup. Its 150 guestrooms provide space for up to 300 guests. The hotel’s director, Dominik Maiser, describes the business and conference hotel as sporty and modern. A high-quality feel and a comfortable atmosphere are at the top of the list of priorities.
The architecture of the building comes across as timeless and modern. The façade is painted red and grey. This colour combination is picked up on by the interior decor. Specially made furniture, such as the decorative side tables in the lobby and in the rooms, are varnished grey on the outside and red on the inside. A striking red is a recurrent colour element in textiles, carpeting and on the walls. The sporting influence can be seen in the form of 8-metre high drawings of sportspeople that decorate the walls in the lobby. These drawings also appear in the guestrooms as wall sketches.
The wide window at the front of the restaurant is enclosed by walls painted red. Together with leather-upholstered wooden chairs and tables with matching decoration, the visitor is welcomed by an atmosphere that is at once spacious and warm. Roman blinds made with drapilux fabrics adorn the windows. In appearance, these fit in perfectly with the restful atmosphere, and if needed they provide protection against the sun as required. The room is elegantly lit by lamps in yellow fabric shades located above the blinds.
The conference area can be flexibly divided into several areas as needed, and provides space for up to 400 people. The pattern of the drapilux blackout fabrics that are used as curtains was specially designed by the Christ architectural office from Limburg. Red and white or blue and white stripes make for a fresh, appealing appearance.
The modern equipped guestrooms are an invitation to comfort. The interior is dominated by grey and blue tones. Red elements in the furniture, the floor and wall design, and textiles and accessories add warm colour notes. The armchairs, sofa and chairs are upholstered in black leather. The specially prepared drapilux fabrics with red and white or grey and white vertical stripes are also used here, where they are a perfect match in terms of colour. The overall scheme is rounded off by the combination with white drapilux air curtains. The air function of the textiles ensures fresh air in the rooms by breaking down odours. Smoking rooms can be used by non-smokers without inconvenience, because these fabrics break down the nicotine and tobacco odours.
